Individual Therapy

As a Licensed Professional Counselor for over thirteen years, I have had the pleasure of working with clients of all ages and backgrounds in outpatient, inpatient and residential settings. I utilize an approach which combines evidence-based techniques with the healing elements of a supportive, empathic therapeutic environment, tailored to the specific needs of each client.

Specific areas of experience:

ADHD, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder, Tantrums, Explosive Behaviors, Social Skills Deficits, Suicidal Ideations, Self Injury, Depression, Anxiety Disorders, Psychotic Disorders, Bipolar Disorder

Types of Therapy used:

Play Therapy-The use of play as a means to teach social and emotional skills, to identify psychological and developmental issues and to enhance healthy interpersonal functioning. Recommended as a treatment intervention for children ages 3 to 12 years old. Teenagers and adults can also benefit from play techniques!

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy-Identifying and evaluating the dysfunctional interplay between one’s own thoughts, beliefs and feelings that may lead to psychological distress or disorders.

Collaborative Problem Solving-A third wave cognitive behavior therapy which focuses on identifying the lagging skills in a child that lead to difficulty meeting the expectations of the environment and then working with the child collaboratively on solving the problems that lead to the explosive behaviors. CPS is a relationship-building approach and teaches the skills the child needs in order to successfully navigate thoughts, emotions and interpersonal interactions.
